How do you plan product, industry, and portrait photo shoots?

Although the types of shoots may vary, the production process remains the same: the purpose and intended use of the photograph are first clarified; then, the scope of the visual concept, preparation, shooting, selection, and delivery is set out in writing.

A primary objective is identified, such as product sales, a marketing campaign, corporate representation, personal branding, media relations, an album release, or a casting call.

What risks are controlled for each type of shot?

Quality control is not just about clarity. In product and location shots, physical accuracy is maintained; in portraits, the subject’s natural appearance, intended use, and manner of representation are preserved.

Yes. Three teams work on three separate shoots on the same day: product photography against a white background, staged photography, and staged or model-based video shoots. This ensures that the different types of deliverables are consistent in terms of color scheme, product presentation, and campaign messaging.

05 · Proposal and Preparation

What should you send for the initial evaluation?

You don’t need to prepare a lengthy brief. The type of shoot, intended use, approximate scope, location, and sample image are sufficient to direct you to the right service and for an initial quote.

Specify the type of shoot: product, industry, or portrait. Please specify whether the photos are intended for use on the web, in advertising, on marketplaces, on LinkedIn, for PR, in albums, or for casting. Please provide an approximate number of products, number of people, number of photos, or scope of the video. Please specify your needs for models, sets, styling, hair and makeup, and whether you need an office or another location. Please attach examples or a mood board that illustrate the visual style you like. Please specify the target shoot and delivery dates; for commercial projects, please indicate the country of use and the media channels.

The exact duration and delivery schedule vary depending on the type of shoot. The number of products, video, model, location, retouching, scope of the portrait package, and the need for multiple sets are specified separately during the quotation phase.

06 · Photographer and production team

Who makes the casting decisions?

LUX Production is built on Burak Bulut Yıldırım’s commercial photography and portrait practice, which he has been pursuing since 2005. In product, industry, and portrait projects, lighting, optics, framing, color, texture, skin tone, and photographic language are tailored to the intended purpose of the shoot.

Burak Bulut Yıldırım oversees photography, lighting, and on-camera decisions. For product, advertising, and campaign projects, Meryem Aydın is responsible for art direction, physical set design, product presentation, and visual consistency. Video, styling, hair and makeup, shooting assistants, and post-production are incorporated into the team as needed.

For projects that require creative direction and casting, and in which photography and video will be produced together for different platforms advertising and campaign production service.

In portrait sessions, the focus is on the subject’s professional or creative image; in product projects, the focus is on the product’s actual physical characteristics and the sales channel.

Product and surface

Glass, metal, fabric, cosmetics, food, jewelry, and various other materials are handled with lighting and retouching appropriate for each category.

Human Beings and Expression

In portraits of executives, personal brands, artists, and actors, posture, expression, lighting, and a natural appearance are tailored to the intended purpose.

Portrait sessions in Istanbul are conducted according to the schedule listed on the relevant portrait pages.

What factors determine the price of a shoot?

Pricing is determined based on the number of products or people, the type of shoot, the scope of photography and video, the set, the model, styling, hair and makeup, the location, usage rights, the duration of the shoot, the number of final photos, and post-production details. The scope of each service is explained on the relevant subpage.

Can modeling, set design, styling, and hair and makeup be included?

Yes. For product and campaign projects, the scope may include models, hand models, casting, styling, physical sets, props, and art direction; for portrait projects, hair and makeup, wardrobe, and atmosphere direction may be included as needed. The required crew and usage rights will be specified during the proposal phase.

How does the selection, editing, and delivery process work?

Depending on the shoot, images are checked on a tethered screen during the session or shared through an online selection gallery. Selected images are retouched as agreed in the brief and delivered in formats for web, print, social media, LinkedIn, PR, album artwork or casting applications.
