Cosmetics Product Photography and Video Prices

The price of a cosmetic product photo shoot is determined based on the number of products, the type of shoot, the need for a physical set, the use of models, the scope of the video, and the level of retouching. With 21 years of industry experience, LUX Production combines white-background shots, decorated still life, product application on a model, and short videos into a single production plan.

Faithful representation of the product

Why is the actual product important in a cosmetics photoshoot?

Three key elements must be preserved in cosmetic photography: the shape of the packaging, the product’s true color, and its surface texture. A physical set with controlled lighting showcases the actual product the customer will purchase, rather than AI-generated renderings; details such as the label, cap, liquid, and pigments can be verified during the shoot.

How do photos, videos, and the white background all come together on the same day?

Our three teams work on three separate production lines on the same day. Photography, video and white-background images share a consistent visual style; we complete in one day the scope that other productions may spread over two or three days.

What is a cosmetic product photo shoot?

This involves photographing the product for sales, advertising, and promotional channels using a white background, a physical set, product shots on a model, close-ups of texture details, and short video clips. Each shot is composed with consideration for the product’s surface and the channel on which it will be published.

Why isn't one type of photo enough?

The e-commerce main image identifies the product clearly; a styled photograph establishes the brand’s visual world; using a model demonstrates scale and application; and video conveys movement and the product experience. The right mix depends on the product family and campaign objective.

Let's clarify the scope of the shoot based on your product list

Please send us the number of products, variants, desired photo types, video requirements, and sample images. Let’s plan the model, physical set, shoot date, retouching, and delivery process all within the same proposal.

Bid Structure

How are prices for cosmetic product photo shoots determined?

The price for a cosmetic product photo shoot is calculated based on six main factors: number of products, number of shots, type of shoot, surface complexity, creative production, and scope of post-production. A quote is prepared based on the project scope, number of products, type of shoot, model/set requirements, and post-production details.

01 Product Structure

Product code, variant, and angle

The number of products, color or size variations, and the desired number of shots per product determine the workload for both photography and retouching.

02 Shot Mix

White background, set, model, and video

Lighting, crew, preparation, and delivery are planned separately for each format. Reusing the same angles within the same product family can speed up production.

03 Surface

Glass, metal, and glossy plastic

A special lighting setup is installed on the surface to check the reflection, transparency, label, cap, and appearance of the liquid.

04 Creative Production

Physical set and props

The background, set, product arrangement, props, model, hair, makeup, clothing, and usage rights are included in the scope of the proposal.

05 Post-production

Color, Cleaning, and Retouching

Labels, packaging, liquids, pigments, and surface appearance are cleaned; color consistency is ensured across the product line.

06 Delivery

Ratio, format, duration, and channel

File sizes required for the web, marketplaces, advertising, social media, and print are planned using the 9:16, 1:1, and 16:9 aspect ratios.

Scope of Production

Which types of beauty photo shoots can be produced together?

In a cosmetics project, four basic formats can be produced together: a main product image on a white background, a still life with physical props, product application on a model, and a short product video. After reviewing the product line and distribution channel, the necessary formats are selected; it is not necessary to use all formats for every product.

E-commerce and Product Page

Promotions and Usage

  • Still life with physical objects, the background, and props
  • Product usage on the model, details about hands, skin, and hair
  • Product movement, application, and package opening
  • Vertical and horizontal short video edits
Technical inspection

How are glass, glossy packaging, and product texture inspected?

Three checks are performed simultaneously on glossy cosmetic packaging: the nature of the reflection, the legibility of the label, and the accuracy of the product color. Light sources are not directed directly at the surface; reflection areas are shaped, polarization is used when necessary, and consistency is maintained between the initial shot and retouching using reference colors.

During filming

  • Creating Volume with Edge Lines in Glass and Metal
  • Density, color, and bubble control in transparent liquids
  • Balancing glare and readability on the cover with the label
  • Reference color checks for foundation, blush, and pigments

In post-production

  • Removing dust, scratches, fingerprints, and packaging defects
  • White balance and color matching in the product family
  • Retouching without destroying the actual surface texture
  • Separate sharpness settings for web, print, and advertising files

True set standard

We do not use artificial intelligence to create product designs or packaging. The physical structure of the product forms the basis of the photograph. Any necessary cleaning and retouching is performed on the actual product photograph; the label, color, and texture are not altered in a way that deviates from the brand’s approved look.

Remote production

How are products shipped from another city or from Europe?

Product acceptance from Turkey and Europe is carried out in 5 steps: product list, shipping plan, product acceptance inspection, online mood board approval, shoot, and final delivery. LUX Production handles the shoot at its Istanbul studio; brands in Berlin and across Europe can manage the project brief, selection, and revision process online.

Production Day

How can photography, video, and white-background production all be combined in a single day?

Three camera lines operate simultaneously on the same day. Video equipment such as continuous lighting, motorized dollies, and rotating platforms is planned in advance to facilitate movement; the still photography set and the video set share the same color, surface, and set design choices.

Burak Bulut Yıldırım

Burak Bulut Yıldırım, a professional photographer since 2005, manages decisions regarding lighting, optics, framing, reflections, and product surfaces. He has served as a Sony Europe Imaging Ambassador since 2018.

Meryem Aydın and the production team

Meryem Aydın oversees creative direction, set design, physical backdrops, flooring, and the preparation of props. The photography, video, modeling, hair, makeup, product styling, and delivery teams work together according to the approved production schedule.

Shooting approval, selection, and revision process

The mood board, set, model, and shoot list are approved before the shoot. During computer-assisted shoots, we check the framing, focus, and lighting on screen. We share the selection files after the shoot and apply final retouching to the selected images. We make any necessary adjustments to color, cleanup, and format in the delivered files as part of the project.

What information should you submit for the proposal?

A product list, variants, the desired number of photos and videos, distribution channels, model requirements, sample images, and the target delivery date are sufficient to get started. We’ll work together to fill in any missing details during the initial assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear Answers About Prices and the Process for Cosmetic Product Photography

The price is determined not only by the number of products but also by the types of photos and videos to be produced, the number of sets, the need for models and crew, the complexity of the surface, retouching, and the delivery structure. The answers below explain the most common decision points we encounter before providing a quote.

What factors determine the pricing for cosmetic product photo shoots?

Quotes are prepared based on the number of products, the desired number of shots per product, the need for a white background or a physical set, the use of models, the scope of the video, surface complexity, the level of retouching, and delivery formats. Reusing common sets with recurring angles within the same product family can make production timelines and crew scheduling more efficient.

Do you have a price list for a ready-made cosmetics photoshoot?

Instead of a fixed-price list, a project-based quote is prepared. The 12 products to be photographed against a white background do not fall under the same scope of production as the 12 products that require a model, a physical set, texture details, a short video, and extensive retouching. The quote will be finalized once the product list and distribution channels are shared.

How do you create a mood board and a shoot plan?

After reviewing the product family, packaging surfaces, brand style and intended channels, we prepare a moodboard, shot list and production plan. The background, surfaces, props, model, hair, makeup, framing, camera movement, retouching level and delivery aspect ratios are submitted for client approval before shooting begins. This approval reduces scope changes on the shoot day.

Can we ship products from outside Istanbul or from Europe?

Yes. We accept products from various cities in Turkey and from Europe. The process—which includes steps such as product listing, secure shipping, product acceptance inspection, online mood board approval, photo shoot, selection, revisions, delivery, and product returns—can be conducted remotely. Brands based in Berlin and across Europe can use the Istanbul studio for photo shoots.

Is the filming taking place in Istanbul or Berlin?

Main studio production takes place in Kağıthane, Istanbul. A service area model is used for Berlin and Europe; products can be shipped to the Istanbul studio, or on-site production in Europe can be arranged if the project requires it. The physical address of the Berlin studio is not disclosed; the scope and location are determined during the proposal phase. Remote selection and revision steps are conducted online.

How is glare controlled on glass, metal lids, and glossy packaging?

Reflections in glass and glossy packaging are shaped to show the product’s volume rather than removed entirely. Large soft surfaces, flags, edge lighting and, when needed, polarization are used. Label legibility, metal cap edges, the density of transparent liquids and product color are checked separately during the shoot.

Can a beauty photoshoot and a short video featuring the model be produced on the same day?

Yes. Three teams work on three separate production lines on the same day: white-background photography, photography with physical sets, and on-model photography or video. Continuous lighting and movement equipment are planned in advance so the photos and videos share consistent set design, colors and surfaces.

How long is the delivery time?

The turnaround time is determined based on the number of products, the type of shoot, and the scope of retouching; for standard e-commerce shoots, the selection and delivery schedule is finalized at the start of the project. For most projects, a 3- to 10-business-day timeframe is available. The schedule for projects requiring more extensive set design, models, video work, or advanced retouching is determined separately during the proposal phase.

How do retouching and revisions work?

The mood board, set, model, and shoot list are approved before the shoot. During computer-assisted shoots, we check the framing, focus, and lighting on the screen. After the shoot, we share the selection files and apply final retouching to the selected images. We make any necessary adjustments to color, cleanup, and format in the delivered files as part of the project.

Is artificial intelligence used in images of cosmetic products?

We do not use artificial intelligence to create the product itself, its packaging, or its physical setup. The examples on this page were photographed using real products, real props, and studio lighting. Post-production is applied to remove dust, scratches, surface imperfections, and to adjust color balance and clean up labels; the product’s shape and true texture are preserved. The goal is to present the product for sale accurately and reliably.
