“We took a private lesson on lighting from Burak Bulut. I’d attended another workshop at the studio before. This time, too, we left the workshop with no unanswered questions by the end of the class. We left having truly absorbed the material and gotten plenty of practice. Thank you so much 🧡”

What is a private photography lesson?

The private photography lessons at the LUX Production Istanbul studio are one-on-one sessions tailored to the individual student’s skill level and goals. During the initial assessment, the student’s equipment, 5 to 10 sample photos, and the topics they wish to learn are reviewed; following this, practical exercises, feedback, and the next steps in the learning process are planned.

Why are one-on-one lessons preferred?

Burak Bulut Yıldırım’s professional experience, which has spanned since 2005, and his teaching experience gained through working with more than 6,000 students ensure that class time is dedicated directly to addressing each student’s specific needs. Instead of a fixed curriculum, students select the topics they need from areas such as camera work, lighting, filming, editing, or professional processes.

The method you have learned is put to the test in a real production environment

The Istanbul studio has the infrastructure to run three parallel sets on the same production day for set-based video, set-based photography, and white-background product shoots. In private lessons, only sets appropriate for the subject matter are used; this setup allows you to see lighting and workflow decisions in the context of real client projects.

How do you create a private tutoring program?

The program is developed in three steps: first, the student’s level and goals are assessed; second, the necessary topics are selected; and finally, the material is covered through video recording or screen sharing. Submitting 5 to 10 photos during the initial assessment helps us more accurately identify any technical gaps and determine the appropriate lesson duration.

01

Level and Objective Analysis

We’ll review your current photos, your camera and lenses, your knowledge of lighting, your editing habits, and the results you want to achieve.

02

Personalized lesson plan

Unnecessary topics are removed. The relevant topics are selected from among camera, lighting, product photography, portrait photography, Photoshop, Lightroom, or mentoring.

03

Implementation and Feedback

During filming, framing, focus, and lighting are controlled simultaneously; in the editing class, students work on the footage step by step.

Which photography topics can be covered in one-on-one sessions?

A course curriculum can consist of six main areas: basic photography, studio lighting, portraiture, product photography, Photoshop and Lightroom, and professional mentoring. A single course may focus on a single topic; in more comprehensive programs, shooting, editing, and workflow are integrated within the same curriculum.

How are classes conducted in Istanbul, Berlin, and online?

Practical topics such as studio lighting, product photography, and portraiture can be scheduled in person at the Istanbul studio or within the Berlin and Europe service area. Portfolio development, equipment selection, and Photoshop and Lightroom lessons can be conducted online. The format is chosen so that each lesson produces at least one practical output.

In-person private lessons

  • A studio or an outdoor location suitable for the subject in Istanbul
  • A studio or workspace in Berlin that fits your schedule
  • Practical application of lighting, background, camera, and lens choices
  • Checking the frame and focus on the live view screen

Online Private Lessons

  • Portfolio and Technical Photography Evaluation
  • Screen Sharing for Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Equipment and Studio Investment Plan
  • Quotes, Pricing, and Professional Workflow

What are the benefits of a three-set studio capacity for a class?

The three-set capacity at the Istanbul studio allows students to see the difference between a product’s set-based video, set-based photo, and white-background shoot within the same production workflow. In private lessons, not all three sets are set up; instead, the lighting and equipment necessary for the student’s specific goal are selected for the practical session.

Line 1

Animated video

Continuous lighting, motorized slider, turntable, focus transition, and set logic that operates while in motion.

Line 2

Decorated photo

Fixed lighting and framing control based on surface, background, reflection, and texture.

Line 3

Product photography on a white background

Consistent angles, colors, file standards, cutting requirements, and mass production workflow.

How do the exercises and feedback work during class?

During in-person photo shoots, framing and focus are checked together on the live view screen; the photos taken are selected and evaluated before the class ends. If editing steps such as color correction, cleanup, and file format are included in the course curriculum, students work on a sample file. New topics outside the originally defined scope are scheduled as separate sessions.

You don't have to decide on a long-term plan during the first class

You can start with a short lesson addressing a single technical issue, a portfolio review of 5 to 10 photos, or equipment selection. The next step in the program will be determined only once your goals and the type of work you need to do have been clarified.

How do I apply for a private photography lesson?

In your first message, please include the following five pieces of information: your current level, the equipment you use, the topic you’d like to learn, your goal, and your preferred format. If available, please also include 5 to 10 sample photos. After Burak Bulut Yıldırım reviews the information, he will prepare a suitable lesson plan and quote.

Write in the first message

  • Your current level of photography
  • Your camera, lens, and lighting equipment
  • The main topic you want to learn about
  • Whether your goal is hobby, product, portrait, studio, or professional photography
  • Istanbul, Berlin, or online—your choice

Please send this as well

  • 5 to 10 photos you took earlier
  • Examples of images you'd like to see
  • Technical topics you're struggling with
  • If applicable, product, brand, or portfolio objective
  • The date and time range you have in mind

Please submit your goal for an initial evaluation

Please share the main topic you’d like to learn and your sample photos. The appropriate lesson format, duration, and preparation requirements will be determined during the initial consultation.
