A person spraying pink hair spray on their hair in front of a mirror; a photoshoot for a model-style personal care product
Amazon, Trendyol, Etsy, and E-commerce Product Photography

How should product images be prepared for Amazon, Trendyol, and Etsy?

Main images, product details, usage shots, infographics, and videos for Amazon, Trendyol, and Etsy must be planned separately according to each platform’s requirements. LUX Production physically photographs products at its Istanbul studio; if the scope allows, we produce white-background shots, styled photos, and videos on the same day across three parallel production lines. Quotes are prepared based on the number of products and the scope of production.

“They photographed the product images for our e-commerce company with great care, using professional, high-quality photographers. We didn’t even need to edit the photos—they were perfectly composed right from the start. We were very satisfied with this service, which was the first time we’d outsourced this work. Considering the quality of service this studio provides, their pricing is also very reasonable.”

Actual production

Are the product photos for the Marketplace taken in person?

Yes. LUX Production physically receives every product at its Istanbul studio; Meryem Aydın prepares the actual surfaces and objects for the product presentation, and Burak Bulut Yıldırım makes lighting and shooting decisions on set. The shoot proceeds in three physical steps: product inspection, set setup, and lighting adjustment.

Reflection control on glossy glass and metal, texture on matte surfaces, and color accuracy in packaging are monitored during the shoot. Burak Bulut Yıldırım served as a Sony Alpha Europe Imaging Ambassador from 2018 to 2026; he manages decisions regarding lighting, optics, framing, and reflections during product photography. The goal is for the product you see on screen to convey the same shape and material feel as the product that comes out of the box.

Can photos, videos, and a white background be shot on the same day?

Yes. If the project scope allows, we can conduct staged photo shoots, staged video shoots, and white-background product shoots on three separate production lines at our Istanbul studio all on the same day. A scope that other production companies might spread out over 2–3 days can be completed in just one day; the photos, videos, and catalog shots all adhere to consistent color and product presentation guidelines.

What is a marketplace product photo shoot?

A marketplace product photo shoot is a more comprehensive delivery plan than simply producing a single photo. The main product image, shots from different angles, close-ups, shots showing dimensions and usage, and—when necessary—frames with blank space for infographics, along with a short video, are prepared to fulfill the various purposes of the same product page.

Why isn't a single set of files sufficient for every platform?

The Amazon main image, the Trendyol mobile catalog view, and the Etsy thumbnail crop do not behave the same way. For this reason, when taking photos, not only the resolution but also the product’s proportion within the frame, the surrounding white space, the horizontal and vertical aspect ratios, and the order in which secondary images are presented are all determined from the outset.

Needs vary across three different product categories: cosmetics, home textiles, and jewelry. For decorative products, the focus is on surface and lighting; for home textiles, it’s on the scale of use; and for jewelry, it’s on the reflection of the metal and how it appears on the skin. The shooting plan is tailored to the product’s material and the marketplace page where it will be featured.

Is it possible to ship products from outside Istanbul?

Yes. Products from various cities in Turkey and from Europe can be shipped to our Istanbul studio. The product list and variations are finalized in writing before the shoot; selection, feedback, retouching, and delivery can be handled remotely. For brands in Berlin and our European service area, the project workflow is planned according to the specific requirements of the product and production.

Send us your product list, and we'll determine the scope of the shoot based on the platforms

Please provide the number of SKUs, product category, target platforms, and sample images, if available. Let’s clarify the requirements for the main image on a white background, detail shots, styled or product-in-use shots, and the framing for infographics and video in a single shoot plan.

Platform Differences

Why shouldn't Amazon, Trendyol, and Etsy use the same set of images?

The three platforms display the same product in different ways. Amazon emphasizes a standard white background in the main image; on Trendyol, the category and mobile catalog views are important; on Etsy, the cropping of the first photo, as well as the material and usage context, play a more prominent role. The shooting plan is divided according to these three usage logics.

PlatformThe logic behind the main imageSecondary imagesA critical issue during filming
AmazonThe main image showing the product as it really is, against a plain white background and without any additional graphics superimposed.Images created for details, usage, scale, package contents, infographics, and A+ Content.Separate the main image—which complies with the guidelines—from the secondary images that illustrate the product information.
TrendyolThe first image that fits the category, is easy to view on mobile, and clearly shows the product's shape and color.Side, back, detail, package contents, and images showing the product in use with and without accessories.Vertical catalog behavior, variation differentiation, and preserving the actual product color.
EtsyThe first high-resolution photo that keeps the product in the center and leaves room for different thumbnail crops.Material, texture, scale, packaging, usage environment, and production details.Crop margin, center focus, sRGB color, and the product’s scale in hand or in the space.

For the current platform rules: Amazon Product Image Guide, Trendyol Academy Product Image Guide and Etsy image requirements. Category and panel rules should be double-checked before publication.

The type of product also affects the decision on how to shoot. For reflections on metal and stone, Jewelry photo for the marketplace requires different lighting conditions; for the shoe's shape, sole, material, and angle of use Tips for Photographing Shoes It can also be planned.

Set of images

What layers should a set of visuals for a product consist of?

We break down the initial plan into three layers: main visuals, detail and variation shots, and usage and motion content. Each layer answers a different question about the same product. If the product’s dimensions, materials, or mechanism are important, frames with space left for infographics and a short video are also added to the shoot list.

01

Main image

The product is displayed against a plain background, with accurate colors and clear contours. The platform’s main visual guidelines are applied in this image.

02

Details and variations

The material, texture, cover, stitching, sheen, size, package contents, and color options are illustrated in separate panels.

03

Usage and video

The product is shown in hand, on a model, or in a setting; movement, scale, and usage are illustrated with a short video when necessary.

Amazon

What should you focus on when taking photos for Amazon product images?

On Amazon, the main image and the gallery images used to describe the product serve distinct purposes. The main image must show the product as it actually is against a plain white background, without any additional text, logos, watermarks, or graphic overlays. Horizontal images required for dimensions, usage, materials, and A+ Content are prepared as secondary images.

In the main image

  • The background is set to pure white, that is, RGB 255, 255, 255.
  • The product appears prominent in the frame but is not cropped at the edges.
  • No text, promotional material, borders, or watermarks may be added to the main image after the fact.
  • Accessories not included with the product are not depicted in a misleading manner.

In the secondary images

  • Product dimensions, materials, and package contents can be described.
  • Use cases and scale comparisons can be shown.
  • Distinctions can be made based on different angles, colors, and variations.
  • Images for Amazon A+ Content horizontal modules can also be scheduled on the day of the shoot.
Trendyol

What types of shots should be used in Trendyol product images?

For Trendyol, the first frame in the mobile catalog should quickly showcase the product; subsequent frames should provide details on materials, color, package contents, and usage instructions. Since exact aspect ratios and upload requirements may vary by category, the seller dashboard should be checked before submission. During the photo shoot, separate shots are taken for the main view, details, variations, and, if necessary, model shots.

Image typeIntended useShooting Notes
Main product imagePresent the product in the catalog in a clear and easy-to-understand way.A plain background, the right color, clear product boundaries, and a frame appropriate for the category are required.
Detail imageDisplay information about the material, stitching, cover, surface, or packaging.Sharpness, glare, and color aberration are checked in close-up shots.
Model-based usageTo indicate scale, posture, body, or manner of use.The model, clothing, and category requirements are determined before the shoot.
Decorative useShow the product in a home, office, bathroom, kitchen, or outdoor setting. It describes the usage environment without downplaying the physical set.
Etsy

How should you prepare your first product photo for Etsy?

Etsy recommends that listing photos be at least 2,000 pixels wide and tall. It’s important that the first photo be landscape or square, that the product be centered, and that there be enough room for cropping into square, portrait, and landscape thumbnails. Use sRGB for accurate color; details on materials, scale, and packaging are provided in subsequent images.

Powerful shots

  • The first high-resolution photo, with the actual product in the center.
  • A close-up showing the material and texture.
  • The product's scale when held in hand, on a table, or in a room.
  • Packaging, gift presentation, and product variations.

Things to Avoid

  • In the first photo, the product is cut out of the frame.
  • Over-the-top decor that overshadows the product.
  • An intensive color treatment that changes the hair's natural color.
  • A language of light and color that is disconnected from one another.
Before the shoot

What should you prepare before sending products for a Marketplace photoshoot?

Before the shoot, prepare these five items to streamline the production plan: a list of SKUs and variations, target platforms, desired shots for each product, sample visuals or brand guidelines, and the product’s return policy. Sending products that are clean, complete, and in working condition reduces unnecessary retakes on the day of the shoot.

Brand Requirements

  • List of SKUs, colors, sizes, and variations.
  • Products that are complete, clean, and ironed if necessary.
  • A replacement product in case of breakage or surface damage.
  • Logo, packaging, and actual accessory information to be displayed alongside the product.
  • Option to return or store after filming.

These details will be finalized in the shooting schedule

  • Amazon, Trendyol, Etsy, website, and social media usage.
  • Number of main, detail, and usage shots per product.
  • White background, set, model, and video required.
  • Horizontal, square, and vertical delivery ratios.
  • Scope of retouching and file preparation.
Quotation and Delivery

What determines the product photography budget for Amazon, Trendyol, and Etsy?

Quotes are prepared based on the project scope, number of products, type of shoot, model and set requirements, and post-production details. The number of SKUs, the number of frames per product, surface complexity, whether a white background or a decorated set is required, the shots to be prepared for infographics, the scope of the video, and the delivery formats all determine the overall production plan.

Delivery Schedule

The delivery timeframe is determined based on the number of products, the type of shoot, and the scope of retouching; for standard e-commerce shoots, a timeframe of 3–10 business days is typical. The exact selection and delivery schedule are finalized at the start of the project.

Approval and Revision

How are approvals and revisions managed during filming?

Composition and focus are approved together during the shoot; previews are then shared for selection. The selected images are prepared for color, surface cleanup, perspective, and delivery format. Corrections to the delivered files related to color, cleanup, and format are addressed within the scope of the project; new requests outside the scope are planned separately.

3 parallel lines

How do three production lines operate on the same day?

If the project allows, three teams work on three separate lines on the same production day: white-background product photography, staged photography, and staged or model-based video. A scope that other productions might spread over 2–3 days can be completed in a single day; the product’s color, surface, and presentation style are managed consistently across both photos and videos.

Line 1

White background and catalog

A clean product image is prepared for the SKU flow, angle list, controlled shadow, and, if necessary, cropping.

Line 2

Product photo with props

The actual surface, auxiliary objects, and color relationships are established; the flash light is adjusted according to the product's material.

Line 3

Video with decorations or special effects

Continuous lighting, the path of movement, and usage are planned; depending on the project, a motorized sliding system, a turntable, macro or probe movement, focus adjustment, and stop-motion are used.

Actual product, physical set

Are the images of decorated and styled products actually shot on set?

Yes. When the product arrives at the studio, Meryem Aydın physically sets up the props, floor, background, colors, and textures. Burak Bulut Yıldırım and the video team set up the lighting on set according to whether the surface is glossy, matte, glass, or metal. The following six frames were shot with real products; the decor, set, surfaces, and lighting were not generated by artificial intelligence.

The product you see on the screen is based on the actual shape, color, and texture of the product as it comes out of the box.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Product Photography for Amazon, Trendyol, and Etsy

What should an Amazon product main image look like?

In the main product image on Amazon, the product must be shown as it actually appears, against a plain white background and without any distracting text, logos, watermarks, or graphic overlays. The product should appear prominent within the frame but must not be cropped. Infographics, measurements, usage instructions, and benefit descriptions should be separated from the main image and included in the secondary gallery images.

Is a single size sufficient for Trendyol product images?

No. On Trendyol, the image requirements for the category, product type, and the current upload area in the seller dashboard may vary. The framing does not work the same way for fashion, accessories, cosmetics, home decor, and food products. Before the shoot, separate framing ratios are determined for the main image, vertical catalog view, details, and, if necessary, product shots featuring a model.

Is a white background required for Etsy product photos?

No. A white background is not required for every product on Etsy. The platform recommends that listing images be at least 2,000 pixels wide and tall; it’s important that the first photo be landscape or square, and that the product remains centered in different thumbnail crops. For handmade and decorative items, the material, scale, and context of use may also be shown.

Can the same photos be used on Amazon, Trendyol, and Etsy?

Images from the same photo shoot can be adapted for three platforms, but using a single file directly across all platforms may not yield the desired results. Amazon’s main image is subject to stricter white background rules; on Trendyol, category and mobile catalog views are reviewed; on Etsy, cropping margins, product character, and usage context may be given greater importance.

Is it possible to have a photo shoot by shipping the products?

Yes. Products from various cities in Turkey and from Europe can be shipped to our Istanbul studio. Before shipment, the SKU list, variations, package contents, and target platforms are clearly specified in writing. When the products arrive, a physical inspection is conducted; the selection, feedback, retouching, and final delivery steps can all be carried out entirely remotely.

How long does it take to select and receive the photos after the shoot?

The delivery timeframe is determined based on the number of products, the type of shoot, and the scope of retouching. For standard e-commerce projects, a 3- to 10-business-day timeframe may apply; the exact selection and delivery schedule are finalized at the start of the project. After the shoot, previews are shared, and the selected images are prepared for color correction, retouching, cropping, and platform-specific formats.

How is the price for a marketplace product photo shoot determined?

Quotes are prepared based on the project scope, number of products, type of shoot, model and set requirements, and post-production details. The total production plan is determined by the number of SKUs, the number of frames per product, surface complexity, whether a white background or a decorated set is required, models, the number of shots allocated for infographics, the scope of the video, and the delivery formats.

How does the editing and revision process work?

Framing and focus are approved together during the shoot; previews are shared for selection after the shoot. Selected frames are retouched for color, surface cleanliness, perspective, framing, and required platform formats. Corrections related to color, cleanliness, and format in the delivered files are addressed within the scope of the project; new requests outside the scope are planned separately.

Can photos, videos, and a white background be shot on the same day?

Yes, provided the project scope allows for it. At our Istanbul studio, we can run staged photo shoots, staged video shoots, and product shoots against a white background on three parallel production lines. This allows us to complete a project that would otherwise take 2–3 days across multiple shoots in just one production day, while maintaining consistent color, product presentation, and framing decisions across all photos, videos, and catalog shots.

Were the product images on this page generated using artificial intelligence?

No. The sample shots on this page were produced using real products, on physical sets, and with studio lighting. Meryem Aydın prepares the actual surfaces and props for the product presentation; Burak Bulut Yıldırım and the video team set up the lighting according to the product. The visuals, decor, set, surfaces, or lighting are not generated by artificial intelligence; the product’s actual shape and texture are preserved.
