Location photography, architectural photography, and 360-degree virtual tours
We produce architectural photography, interior photography, promotional videos, and 360-degree virtual tours for hotels, restaurants, clinics, offices, stores, showrooms, and architectural projects. Our team visits the location, works through a list of areas, and schedules shooting times based on natural light.
LUX Production has been producing commercial photography and video at its Istanbul studio and on location since 2005. The locations include a variety of spaces, such as hotel rooms, lobbies, restaurant dining areas, clinic waiting rooms, office floors, store shelves, and manufacturing facilities. Each requires distinct decisions regarding lighting, framing, and preparation. Burak Bulut Yıldırım oversees lighting and shooting decisions, while the LUX team handles planning, communication, selection, and delivery.
The price is determined based on the number of areas to be photographed, the size of the venue, the number of photos to be delivered, any video or virtual tour requirements, the location, and the scope of post-production. If you share your list of areas and where you plan to use the images, we can clarify the scope together and prepare a quote accordingly.
The images of the spaces we publish are taken from actual photos. Lighting, texture, and color are established within the frame; we do not use AI-generated room images, synthetic interior renders, or fabricated decor.

Photos, videos, and a 360-degree tour all on the same shoot day
For venue projects, the team is organized to produce three outputs simultaneously within a single day. While the photography team sets the framing and lighting, the video team captures moving shots of the same scene, and the panoramic head gathers 360-degree tour images from the same vantage points. Since the same lighting decisions and color palette are used on the same day, the website, booking platform, and social media all share the same visual language.
When permits and weather conditions allow, drone footage can be scheduled to capture the exterior facade, garden, pool, and overall appearance of the property. For the La Chalet Hotel Datça project, we produced drone footage alongside the hotel rooms as part of this production.
What is the difference between venue photography, architectural photography, and virtual tours?
Three are taken on the same day, and each serves a different purpose. Location photography captures the atmosphere and usage scenarios of the business. Architectural photography highlights the building’s proportions, lines, and materials. The 360-degree virtual tour, meanwhile, makes the space navigable. In most hotel projects, all three are combined into a single shoot list.
Describes the atmosphere of the business
This involves photographing hotels, restaurants, clinics, offices, stores, and showrooms for use on websites, reservation platforms, social media, and promotional materials.
Preserves the building's proportions
Vertical lines, perspective, materials, and the interplay of light are handled with precision. Suitable for architectural firms, real estate projects, and design publications.
Makes the space accessible
Using panoramic shots, the user navigates through the space point by point on the screen. It is used in hotels, showrooms, clinics, training facilities, and event venues.
We produced architectural interior and exterior photography for Ataköy Galleria, commercial real estate photography for Vastned’s Bomonti Park and Istiklal Avenue projects, and promotional photography of guest rooms, restaurants, and common areas at The Marmara and Sürmeli hotels, keeping this distinction in mind.
Check out the virtual tour example
During a virtual tour, information boxes can be added to specific points within the space, and users can explore the space room by room. At hotels, showrooms, training facilities, clinics, and experience-focused businesses, visitors make their decision before even arriving on-site.
For which businesses is an on-site photo shoot necessary?
It’s essential for every business where the decision to purchase a physical space is involved. A guest won’t make a reservation without seeing the room, a patient won’t schedule an appointment without seeing the clinic, and a brand manager won’t plan a visit without seeing the showroom. The purpose of the visual isn’t to simply show the space, but to set the right expectations.
Room, lobby, and common areas
When making a reservation, the key factors are room size, the bed, the bathroom, the view, the breakfast area, and the pool. We based our work on this list for the Kalamış 39, Mavibeyaz, Natur-Med, My Suit, and Sevo Hotel projects.
The lounge, bar, and service area
Table settings, lighting, decorative style, and plate presentation all shape the dining experience. For the photo shoots at Hamdi Restaurant and Manolya Pastry Shop, we staged both the interior and food photography on the same day.
Perceptions of trust and hygiene
The waiting area, treatment rooms, equipment, and layout must be kept in order. During the shoots at Medicine Hospital and Okmeydanı Dental Hospital, we worked without disrupting patient flow.
Brand culture and scale
Meeting rooms, workspaces, store shelves, and classrooms are all part of a company’s brand identity. The Inter Mutfak store panoramas and the Pole İstanbul and Yogapathika studio shoots were produced as part of this initiative.
How to take a location photo?
Indoor settings are among the most challenging environments for a camera. The difference in brightness between the outdoors and indoors can range from 5 to 8 stops; in a single frame, a 2700 K incandescent bulb meets 5500 K daylight, and a wide-angle lens makes the walls appear to curve inward. That’s why the shoot begins even before the day of the shoot.
Light and Timing
- The time of day and the direction from which natural light enters are determined in advance, and the room layout is arranged accordingly.
- If the contrast difference is high, take 3 to 5 shots at ±2 EV intervals, or combine flash and ambient shots taken from the same tripod position.
- Light fixtures with low color rendering index under mixed color temperatures cause color shifts in skin and textiles; if necessary, a gel is used or channel-based correction is applied.
- The "blue hour" after sunset is used for exterior and pool shots. This period, which varies by season, lasts approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
Perspective and Composition
- The sensor plane is held perpendicular to the ground. If the frame needs to be shifted upward, the lens is moved; vertical lines do not tilt.
- In the 35 mm format, the working range is between 16 and 24 mm. Wider focal lengths artificially enlarge the room and distort the furniture in the corners.
- The camera height is typically kept between 120 and 140 cm in most indoor settings, but is lowered for shots focused on furniture.
- For a balance between depth of field and sharpness, an aperture between f/8 and f/11 is recommended. At f/16 and above, diffraction softens the details.
- Before framing the shot, remove any cables, outlets, trash cans, wrinkled fabrics, and scattered objects. Set up the scene before taking the photo.
A good architectural photograph doesn’t make a space look different from what it is; it simply makes it more visually clear. For atmospheric shots requiring set design, props, and surface arrangements, Meryem Aydın serves as art director; Burak Bulut Yıldırım makes the decisions regarding lighting and framing. The room you see on screen is the one the guest will see upon entering through the door.
How do you create a 360-degree virtual tour?
The panoramic head is rotated around the lens’s entrance pupil. When this point is lost, parallax occurs between near and far objects, causing the doorframe or table edge to appear broken during stitching. Exposure is taken in steps at each rotation point, and the tripod legs are cleaned in the rare region.
In what situations is a virtual tour effective?
- If hotel rooms and common areas are to be displayed in detail before booking.
- If you need to describe a showroom, store, or experience area to a customer who is far away.
- If a sense of order and trust is to take center stage in the clinical and educational fields.
- If you plan to add description boxes, directional signs, or product information inside the venue.
How to Plan Using a Photo
- Standard venue photos are used for the website, the booking platform, and social media.
- A virtual tour provides users with a more extensive and interactive exploration experience.
- When used together, they combine a quick visual impact with a detailed examination on the same page.
- If the shooting locations and photo compositions are determined in advance, a single day of shooting will be sufficient.
We collaborated with Dorak Holding’s tourism group to produce promotional photos and a 360-degree virtual tour for their hotels. We’re applying the same approach to boutique hotels, showrooms, and clinics as well.
How does the location shoot process work?
The process consists of five steps: briefing, planning, shooting, editing, and delivery. The team from the LUX Production Istanbul studio arrives on location, works through the location list, and follows a shooting schedule organized according to daylight hours. Our filming process We also explain how it generally works on a separate page.
Brief
The venue type, filming locations, target audience, distribution channel, and delivery format are finalized.
Planning
The shoot date, natural light hours, room order, preparation checklist, and, if necessary, drone permit are planned.
Shooting
General shots, detail shots, atmospheric shots, and functional shots are taken; if needed, video and 360-degree tours are produced on the same day.
Editing
Color, perspective, lighting balance, and minor distracting elements are adjusted, and file consistency is checked.
Delivery
Files are prepared for use on websites, Google Business profiles, reservation platforms, catalogs, and presentations.
What are you approving during the shoot?
The framing and focus are both confirmed on the computer screen during the shoot. Before leaving the room, the shots from that area are reviewed, and if any are missing, they are completed under the same lighting conditions. After the shoot, a gallery of preliminary selections is shared, and the final shots are retouched based on those selections.
Corrections related to color, clarity, and formatting in the delivered files are addressed within the scope of the project; new requests outside the scope are planned separately.
What should be prepared at the location before the shoot?
A six-item preparation checklist shortens the shooting time and reduces the need for retouching. Every surface that will appear in the frame must be ready for the shoot, because the photo makes even small bits of clutter stand out more clearly than the naked eye can see.
- Make sure the light bulbs are working and, if possible, have the same color temperature. A single burned-out bulb disrupts the room's color scheme.
- Make sure the cables are tidied up, and keep the outlets and remote controls out of the frame.
- Please iron the linens. Please lay out the bedspread, curtains, tablecloth, and towels in advance.
- Wipe down glass, mirrors, and shiny surfaces. Stains and fingerprints become more visible in the light.
- Please remove personal belongings, trash cans, signs, and temporary warning notices.
- Fresh details such as flowers, fruit, and table settings should be planned for the day of the shoot.
Which areas are surveyed based on the type of property?
The product list is the foundation of your offer. The table below will help you narrow down or expand your list based on the sales channel you use.
| Type of venue | Priority shooting list | High-traffic channel |
|---|---|---|
| Hotels and resorts | Standard and deluxe rooms, bathroom, lobby, restaurant, breakfast area, pool, spa, meeting room, exterior | Reservation platforms, website, Google Business Profile |
| Restaurants and cafes | Dining room, table setting, bar, outdoor area, kitchen details, signature dishes, moment of service | Social media, reservation apps, menus, and signage |
| Clinic and hospital | Waiting area, consultation room, treatment rooms, equipment, hygiene details, staff photo | Website, medical tourism presentations, corporate promotion |
| Office and corporate floor | Entrance and reception area, meeting rooms, open-plan office, executive office, common areas | Corporate website, investor presentation, employer branding content |
| Store and showroom | Storefront, overall appearance, aisle and shelf layout, fitting area, checkout area, product details | E-commerce website, dealer presentation, franchise proposal |
| Factory and production facility | Production line, machine detail, warehouse, quality control, employee photo, general view of the facility | Corporate catalog, export presentation, trade show materials |
If the needs on the production facility side are more technical, industrial photo shoot We move on to this scope. We produced the facility drawings for the Çolakoğlu Metalurji, Tefaş Çelik, and Kmc Group projects within this scope.
What factors determine the price of a location shoot?
The price is determined by seven factors: the number of areas to be photographed, the size of the venue, the number of photos to be delivered, the need for video and 360-degree virtual tours, the number of shooting days, the location, and the scope of post-production. A quote is prepared based on the project scope, number of products, type of shoot, model/set requirements, and post-production details.
Number of fields and number of squares
You can’t film a 20-room boutique hotel and a single-story clinic on the same day. As the schedule becomes clearer, the timeline and crew plan will also become clearer.
Photos, videos, virtual tours
Producing all three on the same day is more efficient than shooting them separately and helps unify the visual language.
Within the city, outside the city, Europe
For projects that require transportation, lodging, and equipment transport, the schedule and team size are determined in advance.
Are the images of the venue generated by artificial intelligence?
No. Every interior image we produce is based on actual photography. Over the past two years, the use of synthetic interior imagery in hotel and real estate photography has become increasingly widespread; the difference between the room seen on screen and the room seen upon entering through the door is often the first thing a guest mentions.
On our end, the lighting is set up in the space, surfaces and textures are resolved within the frame, and colors are balanced under actual light fixtures. Retouching is limited to color balance, perspective correction, and the removal of sensor dust and minor distracting elements. A nonexistent landscape is not placed in the window, and nonexistent furniture is not added to the room.
This choice directly affects post-booking satisfaction. When the gap between guest expectations and reality is closed, negative reviews and refund requests also decrease.
You can plan your location shoot along with your corporate photo shoot
A business’s visual identity isn’t limited to just its physical space. A portrait of the manager, a team photo, details about products and services, or short video clips can all be included in the same photo shoot. Our filming experience since 2005 We've summarized it on a single page.
Frequently Asked Questions About Location Shoots and Architectural Photography
Is interior photography the same as architectural photography?
Two different aspects of the same job. Location photography conveys the business’s space and atmosphere, setting the scene that guests will see. Architectural photography prioritizes preserving the building’s proportions, lines, and materials, working without distorting the vertical lines. In hotel and real estate projects, these two approaches are often combined within the same shoot list.
What factors determine the price of a location shoot?
The factors that determine the price are as follows: the number of areas to be photographed, the size of the venue, the number of photos to be delivered, the need for video and 360-degree virtual tours, the number of shooting days, the location, and the scope of post-production. Simply let us know where you plan to use the list of areas and the visuals; we’ll clarify the scope together and prepare a quote accordingly.
Should you use natural light or artificial light for indoor photography?
It depends on the location. If there is sufficient natural light from the window, natural light that sets the mood is preferred. When the difference between the light outside the window and inside the room reaches 5 to 8 stops, take 3 to 5 shots with an exposure range of ±2 EV, or combine flash-lit and ambient shots taken from the same tripod position.
What is a 360-degree virtual tour, and where is it useful?
A virtual tour is a panoramic presentation that allows users to explore a space step by step on their screen. Navigation between rooms, description boxes, and directional cues can be added. It helps build confidence before making a reservation at hotels, showrooms, clinics, training facilities, fitness studios, and event venues. We produced virtual tours for Dorak Holding hotels as part of this initiative.
How should we prepare the location before the shoot?
Every surface that will appear in the frame must be ready for the shoot. Cables are tidied up, light bulbs are all the same color temperature and in working order, textiles are ironed, trash cans and personal items are removed, and glass and mirror surfaces are wiped down. This preparation shortens the shoot time and reduces the need for retouching.
Which areas are included in the list for hotel and restaurant photo shoots?
The hotel’s design includes standard and premium rooms, a bathroom, lobby, restaurant, breakfast area, pool, spa, meeting room, and exterior facade. In the restaurant, photos are taken of the dining room, table settings, bar, outdoor area, kitchen details, and the moment service is being provided. The list may be shorter or longer depending on the sales channel you use.
Are the photos generated by artificial intelligence?
No. The interior images we publish are taken from real-life photos. Lighting, surfaces, textures, and colors are all captured within the frame; we do not use synthetic interior images or AI-generated rooms. Editing is limited to retouching, color balancing, perspective correction, and removing minor distracting elements. The space you see on the screen is exactly what the guest will see upon entering the door.
How does the retouching and revision process work?
Composition and focus are confirmed together on the computer screen during the shoot. A preliminary selection gallery is shared after the shoot, and the final images are retouched based on the selection. Corrections related to color, cleanup, and format in the delivered files are addressed within the scope of the project; new requests outside this scope are planned separately.
In what sizes and formats are the photos delivered?
Prepared according to the intended use. Separate dimensions and aspect ratios are created for the website, Google Business Profile, reservation platforms, social media, catalogs, press releases, and digital ads. Horizontal, vertical, and square aspect ratios are planned together during the shoot; if the images are to be used for print, the files are delivered at the appropriate resolution.
Do you shoot outside of Istanbul and in Europe?
Yes. Our Istanbul studio serves as our production hub, while on-location shoots are conducted at the actual sites. Our team works on-site for hotels, facilities, and chain businesses throughout Turkey. We can also plan location, architectural, and virtual tour projects in Berlin and across Europe.
